Francis Chan….

So many of you guys might not know who Francis Chan is, but let me fill you in. He wrote a book called “Crazy Love” that has sold millions of copies. He left Semi Valley California, where He was the lead pastor of a thriving church, to start a ministry in downtown San Francisco…because He felt led to go to the broken, the homeless, the down and out. I don’t personally know the guy, but from every sermon I’ve watched, and from every page of his books, I’m gonna tell you what I see, I SEE JESUS! I see man who is constantly seeking, and I see a man who is constantly moved by the Holy Spirit! Who doesn’t always do a perfect job of this, but atleast He is trying to avoid the Idol God of “comfort” so that He can love his neighbors.

If I go into one more coffee shop and hear pastors talking about this guy, I might just punch somebody in the face, seriously. (Not really though)! See it’s people like Francis who make us uncomfortable, KIND OF LIKE A MAN NAMED JESUS! I wonder sometimes, if people don’t like Francis, would they like Jesus? See, Jesus came and said tough stuff, like in Luke 14, that we should hate everything in comparison to our love for Him, He also told people not to follow Him because He didn’t even have a place to lay His head, He also told one man, not even to worry about burrying his own Father, just to follow Him and forget everything, and leave it all behind.

So lets be real, Francis makes us uncomfortable, He challenges us to love our neighbors more than ourselves and He actually tries to do that. Most of us talk about it, and then keep on living the same. So listen Pastor guys, if this shoe fits, wear it! Stop knocking pastors or evangelists, who you claim are “radical”….if they make us feel uncomfortable, then there is a reason why, and maybe we should seek the spirit and be open! But to stay the same, and stay in your comfortable lifestyle? Really? Jesus calls us to do greater things than HIM, and the reason we are not experiencing that is because we are enamored by the God of comfort, and if we really want to take Jesus serious on His words, why don’t we come to the end of ourselves and PRACTICE loving our neighbors more than ourselves.

No great way to end this blog other than, I don’t care what you think of me….The Gospel and people, matter more to me than a stupid reputation. Period.
